Solar for an Office Building in Africa?

I am happy to have just joined the PVPower Community and I appreciate the welcome note I received from Nick.

I am going to Africa to finalize the installation of a surveillance and security network for a 3-story office building. The central electricity service station is unreliable therefore solar power is being considered to run the cameras and DVRs when the power is turned off at night or the grid goes offline during the day (often). I was happy to locate your community and could use some suggestions from community members to select the best and most reliable equipment to furnish power for this security network at least or perhaps power for the entire building when power from the grid is lost or turned off. The country operates on a 220 volt power system. A step down to 110V may be required when the appliance being used is from the U.S. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks in advance to the community at large for your imput and welcoming me to the fold.

Hi Warren,
As Nick and Dan have mentioned, I will be happy to help you design a system to meet your needs. This sounds like a great project! Give me a call when you have a few minutes and I can explain our design process. Welcome to the community, and I look forward to working with you.

Warren, I think Anne-Catherine and the team at the office will be able to give you some advice. I'm starting to see more and more people using solar to power security systems. Good stuff and welcome to the family.

Warren,

Give Anne-Catherine a call this morning, she can help understand the needs a bit more and hopefully work on a solution with you. She can be reached at 866.274.0642, just choose the customer service extension. We've done work overseas before so this is something we can help with for sure.

thanks!
Nick
