PVPower - Solar Powered Simplified

An update from our friends at the SEIA.org:

October isn't national solar month, but it should be! Solar energy may be closer than you think. Two major events are coming up that will give every American the chance to see solar technology in action and find out more about how to go solar.

This Saturday, October 3rd is the National Solar Tour, sponsored by the American Solar Energy Society. This event provides everyone the opportunity to tour buildings that use solar technology and learn more about how to use solar to save money and reduce pollution. The Tour is happening all over the U.S. - over 5,000 buildings in 3,000 communities are participating. Visit the National Solar Tour website and find an event near you!

Next week is also the beginning of the Solar Decathlon, a national solar design competition between universities that takes place on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and SEIA, this event challenges 20 colleges and university teams to build energy efficient single-family homes using solar technologies. The houses will be constructed on the National Mall, and will be open to the public October 9-13th and October 15-18th. If you're near the Washington, DC area, you should plan to visit and see cutting edge solar design and technology. There will be solar workshops, guided tours and educational exhibits and you may even see some SEIA staff on hand helping out. We hope to see you there.

It's very exciting to see first hand via videos, just how easy the solar panels went on your roof. I hope you give updates to us for how they are working and what your neighbors thought and what their interest level is. schaubs@mchsi.com
